Where to Stay in Hurghada, Egypt
Hurghada stretches 35km along the Red Sea coast, and the choice of where to stay has a significant effect on how the holiday works. The northern Old Town, the central Marina and El Mamsha strip, and the southern resort zones of Sahl Hasheesh and Makadi Bay are each a different experience.
Luxury Hotels
Steigenberger Al Dau Beach Hotel (central seafront) — one of the most consistently well-reviewed five-star properties in Hurghada. Private beach, multiple pools, and reliable international-chain service. $180–350/night.
Rixos Premium Seagate (Sahl Hasheesh) — an upscale all-inclusive on the quieter southern strip, popular with European package travellers who want a beach holiday without leaving the property. $200–400/night all-inclusive.
Hilton Hurghada Resort (beachfront) — a large, reliable resort with private beach and the facilities expected from Hilton in a beach destination. $150–280/night.
Jaz Aquamarine Resort (Sahl Hasheesh) — an all-inclusive property with waterpark facilities, suited to families. $140–260/night all-inclusive.
Mid-Range All-Inclusive Resorts
Titanic Beach Spa & Aqua Park — a well-known all-inclusive with waterpark, multiple pools, and a private beach section. $100–200/night all-inclusive.
Sentido Mamlouk Palace (Sahl Hasheesh) — a reliable mid-range all-inclusive in the quieter southern zone. $100–180/night.
Pickalbatros Palace Resort — a popular Egyptian chain all-inclusive with beachfront access, consistently reviewed as good value for the price. $80–160/night all-inclusive.
Budget Options
Coral Beach Hotel — a budget-friendly property with sea access and basic facilities. $40–80/night.
Arabella Azur Resort — a lower-cost all-inclusive that suits travellers who want the included-meals format without the premium pricing. $50–90/night.
El Arosa Hotel (Old Town / Ad-Dahar) — basic city-centre accommodation, the cheapest bracket in Hurghada. No beach proximity, but functional for those prioritising cost. $25–50/night.
Old Town (Ad-Dahar)
Ad-Dahar is the original Hurghada town, predating the resort development. It has local restaurants, markets, and a functioning neighbourhood character. Budget guesthouses and cheap hotels operate here. The beach is not within walking distance. Most tourist infrastructure — boat trip operators, dive centres, beach clubs — has shifted south. Old Town makes sense if you are on a very tight budget or specifically want a local neighbourhood environment.
Marina and El Mamsha Area
The central strip between the Marina and El Mamsha is the practical base for most independent travellers. Boat trips to Giftun Islands depart from the Marina. The El Mamsha waterfront strip gives restaurant and cafe options within walking distance. Mid-range hotels — 3–4 star, $40–80 per night for room only — operate throughout this area. This is the most convenient location for combining diving, boat excursions, and evening meals.
Sahl Hasheesh
Sahl Hasheesh is a purpose-planned resort zone 15km south of central Hurghada. The environment is quieter and the beach quality is marginally better. The Rixos, Jaz, and Sentido properties are here. Uber and Careem connect it to Marina Hurghada easily.
Booking Timing
November through March is peak season — European winter sun holidays drive high occupancy and elevated prices. Book four to six weeks ahead for peak period travel. Summer (June–August) is quieter, cheaper, and hot (air temperature 36–38°C, sea temperature 26–28°C).

Frequently Asked Questions
- Should I book an all-inclusive in Hurghada?
- All-inclusive works well for a beach holiday focused on the resort pool and boat trips — it simplifies costs and the food quality at the better resorts is good. If you want to explore El Mamsha restaurants, local food markets, or day-trip independently, a room-only or B&B arrangement gives more flexibility.
- Where is the best area to stay in Hurghada?
- The Marina/El Mamsha area for independent travellers wanting restaurant access and easy boat trip bookings. Sahl Hasheesh for a quieter, higher-end experience. Avoid Old Town unless you specifically want a local neighbourhood feel without beach proximity.
